CASE HIGHLIGHTS
Buckingham Heavy Transport facilitated the execution and delivery of two 221,000-lb Chart LOX (Liquid Oxygen) tanks from barge to final destination. Our scope of work entailed roll on/roll off from the barge and a 57-mile transport, which included crossing a causeway with permitting restrictions. Due to the height of the load, the numerous power and fiber cables that would’ve been cost-prohibitive to lift and splice, and the causeway permitting restrictions, we devised a multi-trailer transport plan to keep the costs and time-frame reasonable for the client. We used a Goldhofer 18-axle ADDrive with transformer deck to roll the tanks from the barge, then hooked the unit to a prime mover for the first leg of the transport. The Goldhofer transporter’s lower carry height allowed us to clear the many wires from this stage of the route. Before crossing the causeway, we transloaded the tanks to a low-profile 6-axle step deck with steerable dolly, which allowed us to meet the permitting requirements for axle weights and spacings. At the destination, the tanks were offloaded via crane to their foundations.
