Buckingham Heavy Transport delivered this 207,900 lb transformer from the Port of Baltimore to a substation in Pennsylvania. At the port, the transformer was loaded by crane onto a Transmaster 13-axle perimeter trailer. The trailer’s 10” road clearance alleviated overhead wire costs for our client, which would’ve been substantial for the 120-mile delivery route. Two escort trucks accompanied the load to the substation, where we used a Buckingham jack and slide system to set the transformer on a temporary pad while the permanent pad was finished. When the permanent pad was ready, we used the jack and slide a second time for the transformer’s final placement.
