BUCKINGHAM DELIVERS TWO 350-MVA TRANSFORMERS TO MOUNTAIN SUBSTATION
Buckingham Heavy Transport delivered two 488,800-lb transformers to a remote mountain station in central West Virginia. The route held several logistical challenges: no rail clearance close to the site due to the size of the transformers, narrow winding backroads, and a 16% grade for the final mile into the substation. Buckingham's team drew on their expertise and a combination of equipment, including a river barge, Goldhofer PST/SL-E line trailer, a custom dual-lane transporter, and the Buckingham hydraulic slide system, to successfully deliver the transformers to their destination.
