I-476 Bridge Replacement Project

CASE HIGHLIGHTS
Buckingham Heavy Transport moved an 80'x72' bridge section for an accelerated bridge construction project on the Pennsylvania turnpike. The new bridge was built on temporary steel abutments next to the old one. After the old bridge was demoed, Buckingham used 100-ton jacks paired with unified jacking machines to lift the new bridge segment. We installed X/Y skates and slid the 1.5-million-pound bridge into place using customized hydraulic push rams, then lowered it to final elevation.

CLIENT SATISFACTION
Our client chose us because the engineered solution we presented for moving the bridge was the simplest and most straightforward of the proposals they received. Our heavy transport expertise and ability to engineer and manufacture custom equipment in-house enabled us to bring a safe, effective, custom move strategy and competitive pricing to their project.  We completed the project ahead of schedule.
