A new substation for a wind farm in the thumb of Michigan needed a transformer delivered from the rail siding to the substation. Buckingham transloaded the 224,000-lb unit from the railcar to 12 lines of Goldhofer, then hauled it several miles to the substation. At the substation, we unhooked the truck and self-propelled the trailer alongside the foundation pad, where we used the Buckingham Jack & Slide system to slide the transformer over the pad. When it was in place, we rotated it 90° and lowered it into place with a Buckingham Unified Jacking Machine and four 100-ton Jacks.
